Speech Title: The effect of Blockchain on Big Data

Abstract: Blockchain as an emerging technology is a distributed database that consists of data blocks holding individual transactions. Blockchain is making a significant shift to make considerable developments in the way businesses operate. Big Data is another trending technology that has provided enormous opportunities for businesses to gain insight by following data patterns and trends facing businesses with some issues and challenges such as dirty, private, or inaccessible as well as benefits for businesses. However, the integration of Big Data and Blockchain is expected to address issues and challenges of Big Data technology. The combination of these powerful technologies is expected to offer great value for businesses since blockchain can make the results of Big Data more valuable by ensuring the security, quality, and accessibility of data in blocks that will in turn provide better managing huge volumes of data that flow daily in organizations. The main characteristics of Blockchain include decentralization, security, and integrity helps. Many interesting opportunities that will be delivered as the result of adopting Blockchain technology to facilitate Big Data and the ways that Big Data influences Blockchain will be discussed in the speech.


Biography: Dr. Hamed Taherdoost is an award-winning leader and R&D professional. He is the founder of Hamta Group | Hamta Business Corporation, and faculty member at University Canada West, Vancouver, Canada. With over 20 years of experience in both industry and academic sectors, he has established himself as an industry leader in the field of Management of Technology and Information System. Throughout his career, he has been highly involved in development of several important projects in different industries as a project manager, R&D manager, and team leader.
Apart from his experience in industry, he has been working in academia and with researchers from various disciplines and has been actively engaged in different research studies. His views on science and technology have been published in top-ranked scientific publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, Emerald, IEEE, IGI Global, Inderscience, Taylor and Francis and he has published over 140 scientific articles in authentic peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings, ten book chapters as well as eight books in the field of technology and research methodology. His research achievements also include winning several best paper awards and outstanding reviewer awards. He is sessional faculty at University Canada West and was lecturer of PNU and IAU Universities. Beside on lectureship positions, he was researcher at IAU for over 8 years, R&D Manager and Academic Program Manager of Research Club, MDTH, Hamta Academy, Malaysia, and Mentor at Publons Academy, and is Advisory Board of Cambridge Scholars Publishing, UK, Scientific Board of NASS, Singapore, Mentor at Vancouver Island University, CETP program and Futurpreneur Canada.
Moreover, he is the editorial, reviewer & advisory board member of many scientific peer-reviewed journals, and has served as editor of book & proceedings for prestigious publishers. He has been a Technical Program Committee, Scientific Committee, and Organizing Committee of many international conferences& has organized and chaired numerous conferences and conference sessions respectively & has delivered speeches as chief guest & keynote speaker. He is Senior Member of IAEEEE, IEEE, IASED, & IEDRC, Working Group Member of IFIP TC 11 - Information Security Management, and Member of CSIAC, ACT-IAC, AASHE and many other professional bodies.
Currently, he is involved in several multidisciplinary research projects among which includes studying innovation in information technology & cyber security, people’s behavior and technology acceptance, and blockchain technology.
